Wild West Party Ideas

The wild west refers mainly to the frontier regions in the USA when the territory was expanding west into Indian country! Because of the constant threats from Indians, outlaws and other desperado's it was common place for every man and every woman to carry their own gun!

One of the very first wild west party ideas i can give you is that you should have a gun as part of your costume!

You also need to transform your venue back to the year 1880 and you can do so with the help of some of the wild west party decoration ideas below.

The more of the following decorations you go with, the more authentic your party venue will be, so you should put into place as many of these as you can. If you have any more ideas for decorations then please tell us all in the comments below!

1. Get some straw! Either bales of straw which you can strategically place around your venue, as seats if nothing else, or you can lay it out for everybody to walk on.

2. Go to Amazon.com and look for some saloon door covers. These bits of cardboard look exactly like saloon doors and they stick right on to the doors in your house.

3. Find as many old and authentic looking tools as you can to place around your venue. Remember that the wild west, the Black Hills and the town of Deadwood in particular were only there because of all the gold! You'll need pick axes, shovels, spades, rope, gas lanterns and wagon wheels. The more the better and the older the better.

4. Do you have any old beer barrels you can place around the venue! You can sit on these too!

5. All your drinks should be served from old Jack Daniels whisky bottles. You can pour them into whisky glasses, even if it's only water!

6. If you have an old piano anywhere in your house, then make sure you have it on display. If anybody can play it then you should play the old barn yard songs such as Yankee Doodle.

7. Go to the garden centre and pick up some cacti. The more the better and in all sizes.

8. Create old western signs and place them around your house pointing to "The saloon" or the "Bath House". If you use the Microsoft Copperplate Bold font then this will look very authentic!

I know it's the age of the internet and everything but you should still send out invitations for your party.

What you should do is send them out in the style of a wanted poster, each with a photo of your guest on. You can get photos of your friends from Facebook and they'll have a laugh to see that their invite has their face on it.

You should buy either brown or yellow paper for the invites, and then to age the paper a little bit, spread some tea over the paper with a pastry brush and leave to set over night. You can even singe the edges as well. Then put them through the printer to print the invite out.

You should also create a Facebook group for your party! Everybody is doing this these days! This has the advantage that it will increase the attendance as everybody will be able to see everyone who is invited and when they see they have lots of friends who're also coming then they themselves are more likely to attend. In addition, you'll all be able to upload all your footage and photos to the group at the end as a permanent reminder of the party.
